Meet Kerry

Picture
Due to a number of negative life experiences it's fair to say I have had agnostic and atheist views, and a confused sense of my spiritual beliefs. I led a fairly messed up life the majority of the time. I had a very good education which led me into a successful media career. My life was abundant in experience and material possessions but quite empty spiritually. Sometime after I met Tony we hit some major tough times. We had to dig deep to find out who we were and how we could love even in the most painful and difficult situations.
When we decided to have a family together the prospect of a new life made us question our own spiritual values, but we wanted our new child to walk with god by their side for unconditional love and support. Our beautiful son Archie was born and we started to explore Christianity with open hearts and minds. We took a Christianity explored course where we were encouraged to ask ANY questions, and we really went for it!  What a discovery of history and enlightenment followed!

We first attended Grace church as part of its first birthday. We were overwhelmed by the welcome we received. The fellowship at Grace church is really quite outstanding. We started to regularly attend as we delved deeper into christianity. What struck a chord with me is that God is angry at evil and in justice will right the wrongs of humankind. Yet because he loves so unconditionally his son willingly took the penalty of our evil in our place on the cross so that we can be forgiven. This is all historic documented fact in the bible - records by men who witnessed these events. All this was done so Jesus could save us.

For us to have lived messed up lives and have a second chance with our broken lives being put back together is such a joy. To know we are all sinners and that we all fall short of God, yet being constantly loved and forgiven provides an unshakable peace. We were recently baptised. It's not easy living life in a new way and making choices with Jesus central to your life; though it is simple. This means breaking old bad habits and making changes. As with anything worthwhile the rewards are amazing. We trust that even though we will make mistakes we will be led in prayer living life more wholly. Personally I have found such comfort in the church family at Grace church. They have encouraged us, and prayed for us. Metaphorically, and at times literally, they have held our hands. We have been shown love and fellowship. Young and old have reached out to us and prayed with us. For all of these gifts of God I will be eternally grateful. Thank you Grace.

If you have read this and have any questions about getting to know Jesus and living a Christian life,  please at least open up and let your questions be answered.
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field." Jesus Christ, The Bible, Matthew 13:44

Meet some of the rest of us...

Paul (& Adele)

Picture
I'm Paul, 24 married to Adele. There are many lesser loves in my life, including music, gaming, exercise, and late evenings with good cheese, wine and friends. When I was 13, I heard the good news that doing good deeds won't put you right with God - only believing in Jesus will.

Following Jesus is both the easiest and the most difficult thing in the world. Jesus says that following him involves sacrifice. But it's easily worth it; knowing his character, his greatness and his love can help in the hardest times. As I get to know him better, trivial things become less important to me. Belonging to his Kingdom means joy forever, now and once he returns.

Laura

Picture
I'm Laura, I'm married to Guy and we have three wonderful daughters. I lead a full life - as a wife and mum with a part time City job (they do exist!), as a daughter and sister, as a company director, and (very importantly) as one of the people who runs Kids@4 here at Grace Church.

I made a commitment to live with Jesus as the ruler of my life when I was 12 after hearing what Jesus had done for me on the cross clearly explained. Life has brought its share of joys and sorrows since; people close to me have been through serious illness (mental and physical), divorce, and people I loved have died (in one case at his own hands). If I was to sum up the difference knowing Jesus has made to my life so far, its that he gives me hope in the darkest times, and in the good times, a zest for life and a desire to bring him glory by living life to the full as he intends.

Guy 'Cameron'

I’m Guy and people tell me I look like the bloke on the left! I became a Christian after a lot of soul searching and comparing the teachings of Jesus with the Koran and Buddhism. I soon realised that the Jesus of the Bible was not only irresistible but also utterly convincing. Since becoming a Christian, knowing Jesus has given me a new lifestyle, direction (like a life-coach, but without the tracksuit!) and certainty. As my Lord, he gives me direction as he rules over me by his word and as my Saviour, he provides me with security for the future so that I can live as a confident person.

Gareth

Hi - Gareth is the name. Married with 4 children. I run a telecoms business based in London but with offices across 22 countries in Europe. I became a christian as a child, rebelled against all faith in my teenage years and discovered by the age of twenty that nothing made more sense of this human dynasty on earth than the christian faith. Its power to explain the human dliemma and its description of the purpose and meaning of life, resonate. Christianity, because it is true, has that explanatory power. It has that power because it is unique and not replicable. It has that power because it is centred in history and because it defies the critic not with dogma, or disdain, but by openly engaging in debate and dialogue about the facts. Please come and visit us. Grub around in the facts about Jesus Christ and make your own informed decision.

Luke

Picture
Luke, married to Claire with three children. I'm an actuary and a big football fan. I’m an inquisitive person and I have spent a lot of time reading the bible and questioning all sorts of people about Christianity. The more I researched the more intellectually convinced I became that the claims of Jesus are true. Initially some of Jesus’ claims can look absurd, however, I am convinced that he is God’s son and that he loves me so much that he was prepared to die in my place and take the punishment that I deserve.

Being a Christian gives me real purpose and meaning. It’s not always easy to live as a Christian but I find that living my life the way God wants really works. I do believe that he made me and knows what’s best for me. In my experience, knowing God is the one thing that completely satisfies me.

Claire

I’m Claire and I’ve been a Christian since I was 6, but I am still learning a lot about how God wants to care for me and wants the best for me. I used to be a bit of a worrier but having faced some difficulties recently I have really felt God supporting me through tough situations. He hasn't promised that bad things aren't going to happen but he has promised that he will never leave us, especially during these times and this has brought great peace to me.

Poppy

Picture
Poppy, married to Jez and we have a gorgeous little girl and an equally gorgeous baby boy. During my time at university I became depressed and lost, partly because of my wayward lifestyle and partly because I doubted my previous convictions. I prayed to God to help me, forgive me and reveal himself to me - after a while he did, giving me a deep conviction of the truth that Jesus had died for me and that I had forgiveness through him. At that moment I committed my life fully to following Christ.

Jez

Picture
Hi, I’m Jez. I was brought up in a Christian family and believed the bible to be true. When I was 14, God spoke to me through the bible, clearly convicting me of a particular wrong in my life. It was then I understood more of his love for me and my own need for God and his forgiveness. Since then God has continued to show His incredible Love and grace in my life, time and time again, as I seek to live for Him.
